Industry

The industrial complex of the district is dominated by engineering and metalworking companies. They account for 37.5% of the total industrial output in the district. Food industry accounts for 30.9%, manufacturers of construction materials for 14%, flour-cereals and mixed feed companies for 10%.

The largest industrial enterprises are Smorgon Aggregates Plant, Smorgonsilikatobeton, Smorgon Dairy, and Smorgon Bakery.

The industrial products made in the district are in demand in the CIS and other countries. The main trading partner is the Russian Federation.
